Restless Night

The battle raged on, silently wrote the soldier his dreams
The darkest hours seep down inside the fox hole, his nightly visitor,
Transgressing thoughts race for the peace he seeks, wincing.

Another lifetime, shall I perish again, without you
How might I walk in the clouds, if it be not with you

This day, I will fight, I will strike with the fury of
The love, which braves the temptation of defiance
Dare not rise up against the force which propels me
Lest thou be consumed by the awesome spectrum
You will cower before me should you choose

This day I will embrace as my weapon, my love
There lives no force great enough to repel my surge
I shall cover my body in the armor of your love, and walk
Fully protected, along paths lined with loneliness, impatience
I know they shall attack, but this day forward, I wear you

The love which carried me through, awakened me today
